Winner of Principal Clarinet position at Carlo Felice Opera House Orchestra in Genoa (Italy) in 2002, Valeria Serangeli studied at Conservatorio Respighi in Latina and Conservatorio Paganini in Genoa. She also studied at Accademia Perosi in Biella with Antony Pay and Accademia del Teatro alla Scala with Denis Zanchetta, specializing on Eb clarinet.Winner of several competitions and scholarships, Valeria played with major orchestras both as Principal and Eb Clarinet: Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Orchestra Sinfonica dell’Emilia Romagna Arturo Toscanini and Lorin Maazel’s Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini. She played, on tour, in the most important concert halls all over the world, performing with many prestigious conductors: Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Gary Bertini, Riccardo Muti, Fabio Luisi, Daniel Oren, Kirill Petrenko, Wayne Marshall, Eliahu Inbal, Kent Nagano, Diego Fasolis, Andrea Battistoni. From 2008 to 2017, Valeria was invited by Maestro Daniel Oren to collaborate with Giuseppe Verdi Opera House Orchestra in Salerno. With this orchestra, she appeared at Christmas Concert 2011 at the Senate of the Italian Republic, broadcast throughout Europe. As a soloist, she was guest, in Season 2013/’14, at Teatro Comunale di Vicenza and Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti, performing Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.Valeria held Masterclasses at APM School of Saluzzo, Civic School of Arts of Rome, Federico Cesi International Festival, Conservatories of Vicenza, Pesaro and Taranto. In 2017 she was teacher of clarinet and Eb clarinet at Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali O. Vecchi – A. Tonelli in Modena, together with Corrado Giuffredi and Fabrizio Meloni.In July 2017 she was invited to play in Tehran and at Ravenna Festival for the project “Le vie dell’amicizia” under the conduction of Riccardo Muti.Since 2019, Valeria is Principal Clarinet of Europe Philarmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ezio Bosso, with whom she appeared in the second episode of the program “Che Storia è la Musica”, broadcast worldwide in December 2019. She appears on the CD “Clarinet Compositions” by Antonio Fraioli with the track “Suggestioni” for clarinet and string quartet, dedicated to her, and on the Jazz CD “Russian Crossover Project”, recorded by the homonym group. Valeria took part in the video production “Corrado Giuffredi Duets”, in which she recorded the first performance of Michele Mangani’s Sonata for two clarinets together with Corrado Giuffredi.Also, she gave the world premiere performance of Mangani Sonata for clarinet and piano at the VI European Clarinet Festival in Camerino in 2016.Valeria was guest at ClarinetFest 2013 in Assisi, 2015 in Madrid and at Clarinitaly 2017.
